I-Forever joins IWASM to pave the way for women in STEM
I-Forever has partnered with the International Women’s Air and Space Museum (IWASM) to empower women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
I-Forever has partnered with the International Women’s Air and Space Museum (IWASM) to empower women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). According to the United States Census Bureau, women make up just 27% of STEM jobs, despite making up 48% of the total workforce in the US. One reason for this is that girls are discouraged from pursuing STEM careers at an early stage.
This new partnership aims to connect and encourage girls and women to engage in both STEM subjects and careers. Both I-Forever and IWASM’s missions aim to inspire and connect the history, current work and future contributions of women in STEM. However, this new collaboration will offer opportunities to be part of the story.
According to IWASM executive director Sara Fisher, “The museum understands that it’s hard to be what you can’t see. That’s why the Museum is excited to partner with I-Forever as we continue our effort to preserve, educate and inspire people of all ages about the influence of women in all aspects of aerospace. As data shows girls are often discouraged from pursuing science at a young age, we look forward to seeing how our two organizations can work together to show that STEM careers can be exciting and rewarding.”
Both organizations have a vested interest in the contributions of women in the scientific fields. Its co-founder, Lucy Fanger, recently shared, “As a woman in STEM, I know the pressure on us not to be part of the STEM profession. For 28 years I was ignored at conferences and asked why I would run a technology company. I want to make sure we encourage the next generation to never have to experience that! Hence the slogan of I-Forever Your legacy, your future It’s not just about sending our life stories into space, it’s about making sure everyone is remembered and every woman is cherished.” I-Forever aims to preserve our collective legacy by enabling people to share a part of themselves in the send to space. It can be an image, a video, or even sequenced DNA.
I-Forever and IWASM want to spread the message that women not only belong in STEM careers, but thrive in them. The I-Forever campaign will start in October https://ifundwomen.com/ offers backers an individual membership to IWASM for a value of $500 or more.
